My Name: Adam Holt My favourite sports: Football, Ice Hockey & Tennis Region: West Midlands
Hello, welcome to my blog! I am guessing that you are here to read my perceptions and perspectives of sport, particularly my lifelong passion, football.
So, why did I start this blog? Well, the main reason I started this blog was to give myself a platform for me to share me perspective and opinion on various sporting matters that crop up over the course of a year and a season. When I started this blog, I wanted the predominant topic to be around the beautiful game. But I am always looking to expand my horizons and write on other sports, such as my growing passion for Ice Hockey. But, as I write this, I am going to have to get creative in the stories I can publish on this site! When I am not writing blogs, I love to watch and experience football predominantly, and I have made a habit out of reading breaking news stories not only for inspiration, but also to help improve my writing (which should make your visit to this blog website more and more worthwhile!).
I went to my first football match in 2006, at 5 years old, (Aston Villa vs Manchester United) and ever since then, my obsession with the beautiful game has only grown and grown, so much so that its almost the only thing I talk about! As mentioned before, I am getting into other sports such as Ice Hockey, and I also have got into Tennis to a degree following last year's Wimbledon tournament, in which I watched a match or two at every stage in the competition, including the blockbuster final that was won by Simona Halep.
As you may be able to tell, I am an Aston Villa fan, but I also make an effort to follow my local football clubs, such as Tamworth FC, Lichfield City FC and also Sutton Coldfield Town FC. I do feel grassroots and non-league football needs more coverage, and I aim to do this in this blog website. I feel a local connection is important to maintain, so some blogs may come from a local angle as, in my opinion, local clubs, particularly those outside the football league need as much publicity as possible, as increased publicity could bring more people to their football club, thus giving them more income that they rely on so heavily, as unlike league clubs, particularly those in the Premier League, don't rely completely on ticket sales and matchday merchandise sales which applies to clubs that play outside of the Football League.
My favourite kind of football is fast and technical, which is why I have a great love for teams who enact this philosophy on the football world. One being the Eredivisie's Ajax Amsterdam, through Rinus Michels and the legendary Johan Cruyff, who really modernised Michel's philosophy which became world dominating under Pep Guardiola at FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich and now at Manchester City. This is why I enjoy watching teams such as Barcelona and Manchester City, as they both play a very attractive style of play.
One of the main reasons why I write these blogs for sports journalism is because I enjoy conveying various stories that are either covered the world over, or not/barely covered at all. What interests me is the story itself, but also the story that made this story a story that needs to be written about. I also like the unpredictability of sport, meaning I could be writing about one thing one day, and something completely different the next day. This excites me. It also amazes me how many stories break every day, week and month of the year, making it near impossible to cover them all!
So, what makes you passionate about sport? For me, particularly with football, its the unpredictability. Also, the camaraderie is an aspect of every sport that I really enjoy about sports such as football. But its also the excitement and what the plethora of interesting and exciting stories that are to come, stories yet to be covered and those stories that are yet to be uncovered. This is what makes me so passionate about sport.
Anyway, enough of my rambling! Feel free, of course, to divulge yourself in the plethora of blogs that I already posted, but look out for future posts to this site.
