Dan Taylor, a fan of the club for 38 years has given an insight into the season just gone from a fan’s perspective.
He said: “If you'd told me ten years ago when we won the Isthmian League we'd be a Football League side in ten years, I'd have laughed in your face.
“It will bring more exposure, bigger crowds, playing at a level we've never reached before.”
Taylor also gave an insight into what he thinks changed in the club to achieve promotion and the moment this dream may just be becoming a reality.
He said: “Continuity mainly. Matt got a good run at it in the tail end of last season and that confirmed we weren't a million miles away from a good side. We just needed to perform more consistently and take opportunities as they came.
“The week we played Torquay, Hartlepool & Stockport away in seven days. One win, one defeat, one draw & only one goal conceded. I think that made a few people realise we were the real deal at the top end.”
Kenny Davis, a midfielder at Sutton Utd, has opened up on the season and some of the key matches.
He said: “I don’t think it has sunk in yet and I don’t think it will until the new season gets under way!
“The game that stands out for me the most is Dagenham away. We got a late penalty in the game which gave us all three points, after the game there was a real belief around the changing room.”
Davis explained how much promotion to Football League means to the club and its fans, as well as the key ingredient in their successful campaign.
“It means everything to everyone, no one believed we could achieve it and the further we went into the league season the more of a possibility it became. You could feel the excitement of what could happen around the club.
“I think what helped us is that we were more or less the same team from last season with a few additions.”
Andrew Youngman has given an insight into what this promotion season meant to him as a supporter of the club.
He said: “We managed to retain the nucleus of last season’s squad was imperative.
“It means everything - like any clubs we’ve had previous ups and downs over the years and the downs certainly make the promotion mean more.”
